Lady Tigers fall to O’Neill St. Mary’s

OSMOND – The Lady Tigers took to the court for the last home game of the first semester against the Lady Cardinals of O’Neill St. Mary’s. Before the game even started, the team knew in the back of their minds there would be some adversity to overcome because of a non-traditional school day during the day filled with a variety of activities and movies.

“Little did we know that there would be other obstacles that we’d have to overcome as well,” said Coach David Schmit. “Within the first quarter and a half of the game we had two players go down with injuries with one of them able to return later in the game. We encountered a couple other moments of adversity which, combined with the others, never allowed us to really dig in and find our rhythm for the second straight game.”

The Lady Tigers fell to the St. Mary’s Cardinals 60-42.

Leading in scoring was Kiera Moes (14), followed by Sophie Gansebom (7) and Grace Gansebom (6). The Lady Tigers were led on the boards by Kiera Moes (7) and Grace Gansebom (4).

Schmit said, “We knew going into the game that they were a solid team despite only suiting up eight girls for the game. We didn’t really make that a point at any point in the preparation ahead of the game as they’re still a very good team.

“A number of moments of adversity struck at various points in the game and we weren’t able to right the ship and get back to our style of play.

“We hope that our team can use the moratorium to rest up, get healthy, and be ready to get things going in the right direction again.” Score by Quarter
