Lady Cards season comes to an end
HARTINGTON — Thursday’s game against Randolph was kind of mirror of Tuesday’s game as the Lady Blue Devils raced to a big 21-0 first quarter lead and then rolled to a 53-10 win over the Lady Cardinals.
Wynot was led by Katelyn Heine who hit four 3-pointers on her way to scoring honors with 14 points. Shaelee Planer finished with nine points and Michaela Lange and Karley Heimes each contributed six points to the win.
Randolph was paced by Keely Pinkelman with a 3-pointer and a bucket each from Grace Eledge and Kayla Nordhues.
Katelyn Heine led an early charge for the Lady Blue Devils, pouring in a trio of treys and Shaelee Planer scored five points early as Wynot raced to a 21-0 lead.
In the second quarter, the Lady Cardinals got a 3-pointer by Keely Pinkelman and a freethrow by Natalie Munter, but their offense sputtered after that. Meanwhile, Wynot got 3-pointers by Kendra Pinkelman and Katelyn Heine and a conventional three points by Noelle Wieseler, along with a bucket inside by Amy Tramp as they increased their lead to 33-4 at halftime.
In the third quarter, the Cardinals could only manage a lone bucket by Natalie Munter.
Wynot continued to roll behind five more points by Heine and 3-pointers by Karley Heimes and Shaelee Planer as they increased their lead to 50-6.
Most of the final period was a running clock. Randolph got late buckets from Emma Munter and Kayla Nordhues to make the final score 53-10.
Wynot advanced to the district final against an opponent to be named later with a trip to state on the line.
