Lady Bears open L&C Tny. with a win
LAUREL — After dropping a home matchup to Wakefield/Allen on Thursday, the LCC Lady Bears came back two days later and earned an easy win at home in the first round of the Lewis & Clark Conference tournament.
The Lady Bears came out of the halftime break cold, allowing visiting Wakefield/Allen to put distance between the two teams and go on to a 64-46 win.
LCC trailed by two at the half, but the Trojans outscored the Lady Bears 17-4 in the pivotal third period to put the game away.
Delaney Ehlers paced LCC with 18 points while Kinsey Hall added
14. Also scoring were Makayla Forsberg with seven, Erica Wolfgram with six and Jordynn Urwiler with one.
Hall had a team-best 12 rebounds, Forsberg grabbed eight, Ehlers had seven and Wolfgram had six. Wolfgram had five assists and three steals, while Hall grabbed three steals.
In Saturday’s opening round of the Lewis & Clark Conference tournament at LCC School, the Lady Bears took care of Winside to move on to Tuesday’s quarterfinals, winning 60-12.
LCC outscored Winside 30-6 in the opening half and blew the game open with a 21-2 third-quarter march to the easy win.
Forsberg scored 16 points to lead all scorers, while Hall and Wolfgram also finished in double digits with 11 points apiece. Haley Christensen had eight, Cassie Granquist scored four, Urwiler and Ehlers both had three and Reggan Kuhlman and Paige Cook each had two.
Hall had 12 rebounds, three assists and four steals for LCC. Forberg had six rebounds and three assists and Christensen had five thefts.
LCC played Homer in the quarterfinals Tuesday at Randolph. The winner moves on to Friday’s semifinals, with the title game set for Monday at LCC.
