Lady Bears handle Wildcats, fall to BC
LAUREL — After getting a conference win over Hartington-Newcastle last Tuesday, the LCC Lady Bears took one on the chin as Battle Creek dominated them at home.
The Lady Bears won a defensive struggle with the Wildcats, posting a 34-26 win. LCC limited the guests to just three first-half field goals and led by as many as nine on their way to the home win.
Kinsley Hall paced all scorers with 19 points while Jordynn Urwiler added six. Mallory Eriksen and Haley Christensen each had four and Berniece McCorkindale put in a free throw.
Hall had a double-double with 11 rebounds and also led the team with five steals. Christensen had six boards and Eriksen grabbed four.
On Thursday, Battle Creek opened things up in the second half, outscoring LCC 30-9 to come away with a 52-28 win.
Battle Creek broke a 10-10 tie and led by three at the break, then outscored LCC 11-2 in the third period to take control of the contest.
Hall led the way with 18 points, followed by Erica Wolfgram with three and Christensen and Mollie Schutte with two apiece. Urwiler, Eriksen and Reggan Kuhlman each had free throws.
Hall led the team in rebounds with eight and assists with two. Urwiler had five steals.
The LCC girls played Osmond at home Tuesday and will be at at Wakefield Thursday. Lewis & Clark Conference tournament play is set to start on Saturday.
