Lady Bears fall at Ponca, win at Plainview
PLAINVIEW — The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Lady Bears basketball team took it on the chin at state-rated Ponca on Tuesday, but bounced back with a win on the road Friday in Plainview.
Ponca took control of the game in the second quarter, building a 15-point halftime lead before coming away with a 60-33 win over the Lady Bears.
LCC was limited to 18 percent (8-of-44) shooting in the loss at Ponca. Haley Christensen led the way with nine points, Mallory Eriksen and Kinsey Hall both had six, Jordynn Urwiler added five, Reggan Kuhlman scored four, Mollie Schutte had two and Erica Wolfgram finished with a free throw.
Hall had six rebounds while Christensen and Delaney Johnson both had five. Wolfgram finished with two assists and Eriksen had two steals.
On Friday, LCC raced to a 12-point first-quarter advantage and led the rest of the way, posting a 65-55 win at Plainview.
Christensen hit for a season-high 22 points to lead three Lady Bears in double figures. Hall added 16 points and Eriksen scored 12. Wolfgram chipped in nine points and Urwiler had six.
Christensen had a double-double with 12 rebounds while Hall grabbed seven. Wolfgram had five assists and Urwiler and Hall both had three. Christensen and Hall each had three steals.
LCC played Bloomfield on Tuesday and will be in the Great Northeast Nebraska Shootout next week in Wayne.
