Lady Bears earn split in action last week

LAUREL — The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Lady Bears stayed above the .500 mark on the season after splitting two matches last week.

On Tuesday, the Lady Bears fell to Pierce, 25-22, 25-18, 25-20. 

Erica Benson led the team with eight kills, followed by Mollie Schutte with five and Erica Wolfgram and Berniece McCorkindale with four each. Kinsey Hall had 10 assists while Haley Christensen set up eight.

Defensively, Christensen had three block assists and Schutte had two. 

In the digs department, Christensen had eight, Hall had seven and Wolfgram, McCorkindale and Jordynn Urwiler picked up six apiece.

LCC bounced back two nights later, taking care of Creighton with a 25-21, 25-15, 25-17. Benson recorded a team-high 11 kills in the win, followed by Wolfgram with six, Hall and Schutte with five each and Christensen with four. Hall had 19 assists while Christensen set 10.

Christensen and Benson each had three ace serves. In digs, Hall had 14, Wolfgram added 11 and Urwiler had nine to lead the way.

The 10-8 Lady Bears visit Hartington-Newcastle twice this week, starting with a triangular on Thursday and finishing with a Saturday tournament.
