Junior varsity girls defeat Winside, Wausa

Osmond’s junior varsity girls took on Winside on Thursday at home, followed by an away game against Wausa on Friday.

Winside JV Game

OSMOND — The Osmond junior varsity took on Winside on Thursday, Feb. 11, and came away with the win, 12-7 . We had a tough time getting into a rhythm in this game, but as I tell the girls often — winners win. They did just that, coming out of the gates with an 8-2 first quarter and holding on in the second quarter. Cali Gutz and Juliana Kumm led the way for our offense with three points each.

Wausa JV Game

WAUSA — The JV game against Wausa on Friday, Feb. 12, had a completely different script to it. This game started out very slow for us and we got behind 8-13 in the first quarter. The second quarter was an offensive explosion for us and a complete flip. We outscored Wausa 21-8 in just eight minutes of gameplay to get the win, 29-21.

Tessa Gardner dominated the inside with 14 points in just two quarters of play, along with a strong performance from Caydence Krienert with six points. The team overall was very successful offensively and I am PROUD to say all members of the team scored.

This game completed the junior varsity basketball season. The squad ended with a record of 9-4. This is a group that has no fear and will battle with anyone; I would sometimes catch myself just watching and smiling as they worked together to bring out the best in each other. The teamwork and selflessness of this group was beyond a doubt the reason they were so successful.
