Haselhorst takes part in NE Neb. All Star football game in Norfolk

NORFOLK — Justin Haselhorst was joined by several area athletes competing in last weekend’s Northeast Nebraska All Star Football Classic.

Also competing for the Red Team were Cedar Catholic’s Kerby Hochstein and Myles Thoene, Kobe Heitman from Hartington-Newcastle and Anthony Haberman and Peyton Wieseler of Wynot.

The contest was truly a classic in every sense of the word as the White team pulled off a last-second 17-10 win when Mason Walsh of O’Neill threw a touchdown pass to Haustyn Forney of Humphrey St. Francis with seven seconds left in the contest to break a 10-10 tie.

As the Red squad lined up to punt at their own 32-yard line with 20 seconds left, it looked as though the game was headed for overtime.

That all changed when Stanton’s Mason Bruggeman broke through the offensive line and blocked the punt, giving the White squad the ball deep in Red territory.

Pohlman finished his day with 10 receptions — tying a game record — for 101 yards and a touchdown and was named the offensive player of the game for White.

Mike Brands of Oakland-Craig was named its defensive player of the game. Nick Arenas of Wakefield was named the offensive player of the game for the Red team, and Garrett Boelter of Lutheran High NE earned defensive honors.
