Haisch, Bears run to easy win over Pirates
LAUREL — Evan Haisch ran wild over the Plainview defense Friday night, scoring five touchdowns to help the LCC Bears to an easy 50-14 win over the Pirates.
Haisch scored the first three touchdowns for the Bears, finding paydirt from 25, 30 and 23 yards to stake the hosts to an early 20-8 lead.
LCC built a 34-8 halftime advantage and turned Haisch loose for two more scores in the second half, capping a night that saw him rush for 268 yards on 27 carries with five touchdowns.
Nolan Ohlrich and Evan Schmitt also found the end zone for LCC. Ohlrich finished with 36 yards on nine carries and Schmitt had 10 yards on six tries. Sutton Ehlers added 26 yards on eight carries and Lucas Rasmussen had 14 yards on five attempts.
Ehlers led the defense with nine total tackles, followed by Austin Hall with seven stops. Haisch and Deagan Puppe both had four tackles.
Next, LCC will head back to its home field with a 7 p.m. Friday date against No. 5 Wakefield.
“I expect a very physical game this week,” Arens said. “They are a very good team. Our guys are excited for the challenge that Wakefield will bring to town on Friday night.”
“We still need to get better at the finer details of the game. Our reads, blocking, tackling, and turnovers, need more improvement. If we are to win bigger games like the one this week, we need to be better at the little details.”
