Eagles fly past the LCC Bears
LAUREL — The battle for the top spot in the district didn’t quite go as Bear fans would have hoped.
LCC hosted Lutheran High Northeast Friday. The Eagles took control early, pushing 20 points across the board in the first frame, and extending their lead to 26-6 at the halftime break.
The Bears did manage to get their offense to work in the second half, but by then it was too little, too late and the Eagles had already sealed the 46-14 win.
The Bears were limited to just 192 yards in the contest — most of it through the air.
Evan Schmitt connected on 11-26-119 yards for the Orange and Black.
Senior workhorse Evan Haisch played very little because of an injury. The Bear ground attack simply was not the same without him crashing through the line of scrimmage.
LCC earned the eighth seed in the Class C1 playoffs and will now host Exeter-Milligan-Friend on Thursday.
