Cardinal runners compete at Neligh
NELIGH — Last Monday, the Randolph Cardinals took part in the Neligh Invitational and the boys saw themselves bring home one of the medals.
Justin Guenther placed 14th for a personal-best time of 19:14 over 5,000 meters.
According to head coach Tom Shafer, the other three Cardinal runners also recorded personal-best times.
Cole Jensen (fifth), Milo Rayford (eighth), Owen Junck (ninth) and Mason Blickenstaff (10th) all finished strong in the 2,000-meter junior high race.
The team followed that up with a run at the Pender Invitational three days later and Shafer noted “slower times” caused by windy conditions compared to the same race a year previously.
In the junior high boys’ 2000-meter race, Jensen medaled with a fifth-place finish.
