Blaze wrestlers take five medals home from Battle Creek
BATTLE CREEK — The Quad County Northeast wrestlers came home with five medalists and one champion from Saturday’s Battle Creek Invitational.
Tie Hollandsworth ran the table in the 152-pound weight bracket, winning all five of his matches and finishing with a second-period pin of Cedar Catholic’s Conner Hochstein to claim a first-place medal for the second time in as many weeks.
Kolby Casey was a third-place medalist for the Blaze at 195 pounds, finishing the day with a first-period pin in the consolation finals to take the bronze.
Colby Wathor (182) and Fischer Carson (285) both earned fourth-place medals for the Blaze, and Carter Olson was a sixth-place finisher at 120 pounds in the 19-team tournament.
QCNE will see two meets in three days this week, starting with Thursday’s Lewis & Clark Conference tournament in Ponca.
They will also compete in the Oakland-Craig Invite on Saturday.
The post-season is just around the corner for the Blaze. This year the local LCC-Randolph wrestling co-op will compete in District C2. That meet will take place Feb. 13 in Battle Creek. Other teams competing in that District meet include: Fremont Bergan, Battle Creek, Wahoo Neumann, Conestoga, Cedar Catholic, Lutheran High NE, Oakland-Craig, Raymond Central, Sutton, Syracuse, Wakefield, Wilber-Clatonia, Winnebago, and Yutan.
