Blaze wrestlers end the season at State

OMAHA — Quad County Northeast qualified two wrestlers for last week’s Nebraska State Wrestling Championships.

They both gained a lot of valuable experience, though neither was able to come home with any hardware.

Sophomore Kolby Casey was making his second trip to the CHI Center for the State Tournament.

Casey put together a 1-2 record at 195 pounds.

He lost his first match on a pin before coming back with a third-period pin to end the day for Joel Abramson from Loomis/ Bertrand.

In his next match, he ended his tournament with a late second-period fall to Brandon Beeson of Tri County.

Casey finishes his 2020-21 season at 32-12.

Tie Hollandsworth dropped a pair of close matches.

He lost a 6-2 decision to Clayton Harris of David City to open action at 152 pounds.

He was eliminated from the tournament with an even closer loss — an 8-5 decision to Levi Drueke of O’Neill.
