Blaze get seven medals at Plainview Invite
PLAINVIEW — The Quad County Northeast Blaze came home with one runner-up finish among its seven medalists here Saturday.
Kolby Casey wrestled Cade Janke of Wayne for first-place honors and came up on the wrong end of a third-period pin to settle for the silver medal.
Nolan Ohlrich was the consolation champion at 152 pounds, pinning Aiden Cook of Ponca in the closing seconds of their third-place match.
Carter Olson finished fourth at 113 pounds, Tie Hollandsworth and Austin Stammer were fifth-place medalists at 145 and 160 pounds, respectively, Colby Wathor (170) and Levi Jackson (182) finished sixth in their brackets.
In dual action Friday, QCNE and Winnebago wrestled to a 42-42 tie, but QCNE won the dual on the fifth criteria, taking a 4-3 advantage in pins.
Winning by pin for the Blaze were Cody Martin (138), Stammer, Jackson and Casey. Martin had the fastest of the four pins, winning in just 14 seconds.
The Blaze host a triangular Thursday before heading to Wakfield Saturday.
