Bears tune up for District meet

LAUREL — The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge track and field teams got their final tune-up in before this week’s district meet with action Thursday at the Winch Invitational, held here in Laurel.

The LCC boys earned runner-up honors in the eight-team meet, winning five events on the day.

Deagan Puppe swept the hurdles competition, running just ahead of brother Dan Puppe in the 110-meter highs and easily winning the 300-meter intermediate hurdles.

Austin Hall also earned a win in the discus, posting a best mark of 123 feet, 5 inches, Teammate Aaron Bloom was third in the event. LCC won two of four relays, taking first in the

Shane Benson medaled in two individual events, taking third in the high jump and fifth in the long jump. Wilton Roberts was third in the 400 and sixth in the long jump, and Markus Martin took third in the 100 and sixth in the 400. Dillon Olson placed fifth in the 3,200-meter run.

In girls action, Kinsey Hall picked up two medals, finishing fifth in both the 100-meter dash and the long jump. Berniece McCorkindale claimed a first-place finish in the shot put with a best heave of 35-9 3/4.

Gabby Kock finished fourth in the 400, Jordynn Urwiler was fifth in the 800, Erica Wolfgram was third in the high jump, Mallory Eriksen took third in the triple jump and Reggan Kuhlman was fourth in the discus.

LCC score in all four relays, with a third in the 400, a fifth in the sprint medley and sixthplace efforts in the 1,600 and 3,200 relays.

LCC will compete in district action Thursday at Ponca.
