Bears remain unbeaten in the 20-21 season
LAUREL — Two more games. Two more wins.
The LCC Bears moved to 6-0 after action last week.
The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge boys defeated Ponca 51-44 on Dec. 14, then put the offense into high and rolled to an 86-34 victory over Plainview on Friday.
The Bears took control early against Ponca, building a 51-44 first quarter lead.
Ponca slowed down Coach Todd Erwin’s crew after that, outscoring the Orange and Black 14-13 in the second frame, sending the Bears into the break with a 30-22 advantage.
Ponca was able to outscore LCC 22-21 over the final 16 minutes, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Bears from picking up yet another win on the young season.
The LCC offense was paced in the contest by Evan Haisch, who dropped in a team-high 19 points. Jake Rath also hit for double figures with 16 on the night.
The Bears once again got off to a great start Friday against Plainview. LCC put together an 18-8 first-quarter
LCC put together an 18-8 first-quarter scoring advantage over the Pirates. This time the Bears didn’t lift off the gas, though, increasing their lead to 53-20 at the halftime break.
LCC outscored Planview 33-14 over the final 16 minutes to claim the lopsided win.
Jake Rath and Wilton Roberts paced the Bears offense in this one with 21 and 13 points, respectively.
