Bears, Lady Bears earn postseason honors

LAUREL — Three Bears and three Lady Bears received All Conference recognition by the voting of the Lewis & Clark Conference coaches for girls and boys basketball.

Named to the Lewis Division First Team was Laurel-Concord-Coleridge senior Kinsey Hall.

Hall was the backbone of the Lady Bears this season averaging 17.9 points per game and grabbing just under nine rebounds.

She also led the team in assists, averaging 3.1 dishes per game and steals with 2.5 per game.

Named to the honorable mention squad for the Clark Division team by the league coaches were sophomore Mallory Eriksen and junior Haley Christensen.

Eriksen and Christensen averaged 11 points per night between them as Eriksen scored 6.5 a game and Christensen was right behind with 4.5 points.

The duo also pulled down over nine rebounds per game and registered nearly four steals per contest.

Other members of the first team were Alex Arenas, Jordan Metzler and Aishah Valenzuela of Wakefield; Jordyn Carr of Tri County Northeast; Samantha Ehlers, Gracen Evans and Ashlyn Kingsbury of Ponca; Braie Johnson of Homer and Alivia Morton of Hartington-Newcastle.

Joining Eriksen and Christensen on the honorable-mention list were Hannah Elsea and Rylie Harris of Homer; Mani Lange of Hartington-Newcastle and Rhyanne Mackling of Tri County Northeast.

For the Bears, senior Evan Haisch and junior Jake Rath were selected by the coaches to the Lewis Division first-team.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge senior Lucas Rasmussen was named to the honorablemention list.

Rath was a force inside for the Bears and averaged a double-double over the entire season with 17.5 points per game and 10.2 rebounds per contest.

Right behind Rath in the scoring statistics stood Haisch.

Haisch averaged over 14 points per game and pulled down nearly five rebounds every night. He also handed out just under two assists and had a couple of steals when he took the court.

Rasmussen did most of his work inside and averaged over six points per game while grabbing nearly four rebounds.

Also on the first team for the Lewis Division were Dyami Berridge of Winnebago; Cade Johnson and Eliseo Sarmiento of Wakefield; Dalton Lamprecht of Ponca; Tyrese Lovejoy of Walthill; Nathan Oswald of Tri County Northeast and Jake Peitz and Bennet Sievers of Hartington-Newcastle.

On the honorable-mention list with Rasmussen were Tim Harris and Grant Lander of Homer; Zach Fernau and Taylor Korth of Ponca; Garrett Blanke of Tri County Northeast and Armando Villa of Wakefield.

The Bears finished the season 18-7 while the Lady Bears completed a 13-12 campaign.
