Bears finish third at L&C track meet

HARTINGTON — Two LCC athletes were crowned as Lewis and Clark Conference champions, and the Bear boys earned a third-place finish in Saturday’s conference track meet here.

Austin Hall earned top honors in the discus, while Deagan Puppe earned the 110-meter high hurdles title.

The girls team finished the day in 10th place.

Puppe also competed Thursday in the elite Norfolk Track and Field Classic, finishing with the silver medal with a 15.18 in the 110 hurdles.

LCC teams host Bear Invitational

The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge track and field teams played host to the Bear Invitational last week at Haskell Field.

The LCC boys were runaway winners in the eight-team event, scoring 148 points to 94 by runner-up Tri County Northeast.

LCC’s boys won four events, with Shane Benson claiming a pair of individual titles in the high jump and triple jump.

Deagan Puppe and brother Daniel finished 1-2 in the 110-meter high hurdles. Deagan Puppe was second in the 100 and Daniel finished fourth in the long jump.

Markus Martin earned a fifth in the 100 and a third in the 400, Wilton Roberts was second in the 400 and sixth in the long jump, and the Olson brothers medaled in both distance events, with Dillon taking fourth in the 1,600 and second in the 3,200 and Tyler finishing sixth in the 1,600 and third in the 3,200.

LCC’s boys scored very well in the relays, taking two seconds and winning the 1,600-meter finale.

In girls action, the Lady Bears posted a sixthplace finish with 39 points, with Pender beating out Tri County Northeast for the team title.

Kinsey Hall and Reggan Kuhlman were double-medalists to lead the LCC girls. Hall was third in the 100 hurdles and sixth in the long jump, while Kuhlman was sixth in both throwing events.

Joining Hall as third-place medalists were Erica Wolfgram in the long jump and Berniece McCorkindale in the shot put.
