Area foes have Vikes’ number

ELGIN — The Wausa Vikings got off to a slow start Saturday against Elgin/Pope John.

EPJ outscored the Vikes 13-8 in the first quarter. The Vikes bounced back in the second frame to outscore their hosts 16-15 and cut ther halftime deficit to four points — 28-24.

The two teams traded points evenly in the second half as Elgin outscored the Vikes 24-22 to earn the four-point win.
