Wausmond is conference runner-up; Osmond students receive awards

OSMOND — Wausmond competed in the Lewis and Clark Conference one-act play contest on Tuesday, Nov. 17, in Newcastle. The group was named conference runner-up in the Clark Division.  Three Osmond students received Outstanding Performance Awards: Allison Aschoff, Kaden Polt and Riley Wagner. Wausa students who earned awards include Tyler Baue, Cole Story, Leah Bloomquist and Trey McQuay.

The one-act play this year was “Hold On” and was written by Sheila Hoesing, Wausmond one-act coach. The story is about a group of high school students in a group therapy session who are each dealing with their own issue.  One is being treated for leukemia, one is dealing with depression, one is dealing with anger issues, another was assaulted, and another was a dancer who is now confined to a wheelchair.  Through all their issues, the students find ways to support each other and find the positives in their lives.

The Wausmond group’s first performances were on Saturday, Nov. 14, in Wausa, with one performance for family members and one for the communities. The district contest will be held in Wausa on Thursday, Dec. 3.
