Wausa FBLA attends Fall Leadership Conference

WAUSA — The FBLA officers represented Wausa’s chapter on September 29, 2021 by attending the 2021 FBLA Fall Leadership Conference.

The conference was held at Midland University and was attended by Officers Tyler Baue, Leah Bloomquist, Emily Kleinschmit, Ali Lundberg, Darla Nelson, and Kilee Thorell while Dawn Friedrich attended as their advisor. Trey MQuay couldn’t attend due to illness.

The conference kicked off with Keynote speaker Kevin Kush, coach and author, talking about the characteristics of a good teammate and having a good mindset.

Kilee Thorell, Wausa FBLA Vice President, found Kush’s message to be motivating.

“He believed that everyone is capable of doing anything they put their mind to if they try,” Thorell said. “A quote he said that really stuck with me was to ‘Never underestimate the impact you have on a person when playing a role on a team’.”

Different sessions then followed, ranging from how to become a better leader, student, and worker. There were also other sessions that discussed some ways FBLA can make an impact within communities. March of Dimes, Financial Aid, Networking, College tips are a few of the sessions that were attended.

Tyler Baue, Wausa FBLA President, thought the experience was very engaging and interactive. “We played a Nebraska FLC Social Media Bingo game where we had to take different pictures, post them, and tag Nebraska FBLA.We got Bingo!”

Emily Kleinschmit, Wausa FBLA Parliamentarian, thought that “the conference was a great experience and was worth the wait since last year was virtual.”

Overall, the entire conference provided a great variety of knowledge that Wausa FBLA can incorporate into their Chapter and community. By striving to improve and learn, the Wausa FBLA Chapter is looking forward to a successful school year.
