Vikings to celebrate Homecoming next week
WAUSA — Wausa Public Schools will be celebrating Homecoming Sept. 20-24.
Several activities are planned to showcase school spirit next week.
Monday, students and staff will dress up in crazy patterns. Junior High volleyball will have a match at Osmond at 1:30 p.m.; Junior High football game at 4 p.m. at Osmond; and Junior Varsity football game at Hartington-Newcastle at 7 p.m.
Tuesday, students and staff will dress up as their favorite character and the varsity volleyball team will have a home match against Winside set for 5:30 p.m.
There is no school Wednesday.
Thursday, students will dress up in different generations with the senior class to represent the ‘70s; juniors, ‘80s; sophomores, ‘60s; and freshmen, ‘90s. Teachers and staff will dress in the ‘50s-generation theme. For sports action, the cross-country team will run at the Crofton Lakeview Golf Course starting at 4:30 p.m. and varsity volleyball will have a match at Creighton at 5:30 p.m.
Homecoming festivities will culminate Friday with students and staff dressing in purple and gold school colors. School will dismiss at 2 p.m. for the parade beginning at 2:15 p.m. from the Wausa Hotel.
A pep rally will be held following the parade at the football field.
The varsity football team will take on Wynot at 7 p.m. with coronation taking place immediately after the game at the field.
The Homecoming dance will follow.
