Student totals up one from 2019

OSMOND — Classes are under way for the 2020-21 year at Osmond Community School and St. Mary’s School. Enrollment stands at 236, an increase of one from last year’s 235.

Community School

There are 182 students in the 13 grades at Osmond Community School. This is a decrease of 11 from last year’s 193.

The number of students in kindergarten through sixth grade is 80, four less than last year’s 84. Junior high enrollment stands at 21, five less than last year’s 26.

Senior high — grades nine through 12 — has an enrollment total of 81 which is two less than last year’s 83.

The largest individual elementary class number this year is second grade, which has 17. The largest class in all grades is a tie, between the sophomore and senior classes, both with 21 students.

St. Mary’s Catholic

Total enrollment at St. Mary’s Catholic School this year stands at 52 students, 10 more than last year’s 42. St. Mary’s offers classes for kindergarten through eighth grade. St. Mary’s also offers prekindergarten classes. The enrollment in it is 15 — nine three-year-olds and six four-year-olds.

Staffing at St. Mary’s this year are Keri Severson, who is teacher facilitator and teaches grades seven and eight; Chelsey Schmit, grades one and two; Krista Heithold, grades three and four; Rachel Baer, grades five and six; Rebecca Geneski, kindergarten and preschool, and the pastor, Father Tim Forget, who instructs in all grades.

Immanuel Lutheran

Rounding out the numbers are those at Immanuel Lutheran which offers two sections of preschool. The total enrollment is 15, five more than last year. Enrolled are 11 four-year-olds and four three-year-olds. The instructor for both sections is Julie Slagle. 

Elementary Totals

The kindergarten through sixth grade totals at the two grade schools are five more than last year — 111 this year, compared to 106.

There are 32 students in the combined seventh and eighth grade classes. Last year the number stood at 48.
