Speech team wins district runner-up plaque

The Osmond speech team competed in a number of meets recently, including the Crofton invitational, the Battle Creek Classic and the district meet in Wausa.

District Runner-up

The speech team competed in the district meet on Monday, March 8, at Wausa and brought home the runner-up plaque. All seven members qualified for the state meet on Friday, March 19, in Kearney.

State qualifiers include the following:

Kaden Polt — first humorous, second in duet and second in OID Riley Wagner — first in poetry, second in duet and second in OID

Kenzie von Rentzell — second in informative and third in persuasive

Connor von Rentzell — second in OID and third in serious

Austin Vinson — first in entertainment

Allie Aschoff — second in OID

Erica Heiman — second OID

Other medalists were:

Connor and Allie — fifth in duet

Allie — fifth in serious

Erica — sixth in poetry

Battle Creek Classic

The speech team competed at the Battle Creek Classic on Saturday, Feb. 27.

Placing in the championship finals were the following students:

First — Riley Wagner, Kaden Polt, Connor von Rentzell, Allie Aschoff and Erica Heiman in OID

Second — Kaden Polt in humorous

Fourth — Kenzie von Rentzell in informative

Sixth — Allie Aschoff and Connor von Rentzell in duet

Placing in the next-in finals were:

First — Kaden Polt and Riley Wagner in duet

Fifth — Riley Wagner in poetry

Sixth — Kenzie von Rentzell in persuasive

Kaden Polt also received first in the individual sweepstakes awards. This is an award for the performer who received the most points.

Crofton Invitational

The team competed at the Crofton invite on Saturday, Feb. 20. Placing at the varsity level were the following:

Riley Wagner, first in poetry

Riley Wagner and Kaden Polt, third in duet acting

Connor von Rentzell and Allie Aschoff, sixth in duet acting

Kenzie von Rentzell, sixth in persuasive speaking

Kaden Polt, sixth in humorous
