Speech team members place at Hartington meet

OSMOND — The Osmond High School speech team kicked off its season on Saturday, Feb. 1. 

This year, Osmond will be competing in the D1 class. Students returning from last year include senior state champion Diandra Polt, junior Austin Vinson, and sophomores Riley Wagner, Kaden Polt and Kenzie von Rentzell. 

New to the team are junior Alli Aschoff, sophomores Kiera Moes and Bodie True and freshman Cali Gutz. 

Seven members traveled to Hartington to battle against 19 teams. This is one of the toughest meets of the year with schools ranging in class from D all the way to B. 

Riley and Kaden received fourth place in varsity for their duet performance. 

Kiera placed sixth in junior varsity persuasive with her speech on multi-sport athletes. 

Diandra competed in extemporaneous speaking. Along with their duet, Riley performed a serious and Kaden performed his entertainment about working as a grocery store employee. 

Kenzie competed in informative with her speech titled, “Acts of Kindness.” At the junior varsity level, Alli competed in serious and Kiera and Cali performed their duet. 

This week, Osmond will be competing at the Wynot invite on Saturday, Feb. 8.
