School Board continues to make COVID-19 changes

RANDOLPH — Randolph School Board Monday heard about some more changes that will take affect this school year because of COVID-19 concerns.

The Board is considering streaming athletic events through the Huddle website in order to make sure fans can still see the local action, even though in-person attendance could be limited.

Coaches are already using Huddle so the move to use Huddle for this use would be seamless, said Supt. Jeff Hoesing.

Hoesing posed the question to the board if the school would want to have admission to sporting events be on a free-will donation basis due to virus considerations. Board members decided against the change.

Concessions foods will all be prepackaged due to virus precautions.

Technology for students has also been enhanced this school year. This means students in second through sixth grade will have a chromebook they can utilize in school. PK-1 each student will have an ipad. High school students will also have chromebooks, but will be able to take them home. All teachers also have a promethean board in their classrooms.

Board members said only two comments were received on the school’s possible building plans.

Board members made a transfer from general fund to the depreciation fund of $100,000. The board is using $60,000 for vehicle replacement including the purchase of a van. The $100,000 transfer includes $20,000 for building improvements and $20,000 for equipment.
