Randolph students finally return to the classroom

RANDOLPH — Randolph students returned to the classroom Tuesday for the first time since last March.

The new school year looks quite a bit different from last school year, however.

Face masks, social distancing, lunch room and classroom routines and the COVID-19 color wheel all play a role in every day life at school these days.

Extra curricular activities will also take on a different look this year.

Each school Randolph participates with may have its own unique guidelines concerning COVID-19. Limitations on the number of spectators and where they can sit or stand may also be an issue this school year.

The Randolph volleyball team travels to Laurel Monday for the opening-season Jamboree. LCC school officials say the gym will be limited to 50 percent capacity, which is about 750 people. Guidelines also mandate there will be no student section and the students will have to sit with their family members in socially distanced sections.

Randolph’s first football game will be Aug. 28 when they host Hartington-Newcastle. Safety measures from the current Directed Health Measure will also be in place for that contest.
