Randolph Speech Teams have been busy at meets

WYNOT — Two members of the Randolph speech team, Tyson Junck and Alex Heiman, were able to travel to Wynot on Saturday, Feb. 6, for competition. Each of the boys were entered in three events and they medaled in all their events. The pair performed a duet titled Abbott and Costello and placed first.

Alex placed first in poetry with Keep Forgiving and placed second in serious prose with To This Day. Tyson placed first in humorous prose with Camp and also placed third in entertainment with his creation of DLIS (involves driving).

On Saturday, Feb. 10 the speech team traveled to Wynot for the Lewis and Clark Conference speech competition. Participants included Tyson Junck, Alex Heiman, Lily Umberger, Anton Feyerherm, Emma Munter, and Ryanne Winkelbauer.

There were 17 teams competing and Randolph placed 7th overall. Individually, Tyson Junck placed 4th in entertainment and 4th in humorous prose, Alex Heiman placed 3rd in poetry and 5th in serious prose, and Tyson Junck and Alex Heiman duet placed 5th.

On Saturday, Feb. 13, the team traveled to Wausa to compete in the Wausa Invitational speech meet. In the JV round, Ryanne Winkelbauer and Emma Munter placed 5th in duet acting. In the varsity round, Alex Heiman placed 1st in poetry and Tyson Junck placed 3rd in entertainment.

Other competitors for this meet included Anton Feyerherm competing in extemporaneous speaking and serious prose; and Lily Umberger competing in poetry.

The next competition will be February 20 in Wisner. Unfortunately, these meets are not open to spectators.
