RANDOLPH — It was with deep regret Monday that the Randolph Public School Board accepted the resignations of two long-time educators.

In fact, two school board members even voted “No” for the resignation of Elementary Principal Mary Miller who also serves as a high school Social Studies teacher.

“How do you come up with a word bigger than regret? I know you all feel that and so do I. Maybe we should each take an adjective,” said Supt. Jeff Hoesing with a smile.

The school board also reluctantly accepted the resignation of Ted Stubbs, science teacher and athletic director, but were appreciative for the extra notice provided in order to fill his position.

Both resignations will take effective at the end of the 2021-22 academic year. Stubbs has been with the Randolph Public Schools for 25 years, and Miller for 35 years.

In other school board news, Hoesing said the school has been contacted by Osmond about the potential to co-op boys Junior High sports.

“They’re just not going to have boys for a while and then their numbers will go up in the future but for a couple of years, they will be really, really lean,” Hoesing said. “They’re just asking for help. We’ve been through that too, and we said we’d bounce it off the board and get their thoughts with that.”

The co-op would apply to football and basketball for boys only and would potentially start next year, he said.

The Osmond School Board planned to discuss it at its regular meeting Monday and had reached out to other communities as well as Randolph about the potential co-op.

Randolph board members responded favorably to the idea. Jim Scott, Cody Backer and Paul Schmit will serve as a sub-committee if Osmond wants to continue discussions.
