Randolph FFA Competes in State Land Judging

PIERCE — Land judging is a high school level FFA contest that gives students the opportunity to evaluate land and soil structure. The competitors learn how to recognize the physical features of the soil, determine land capability for crop production, and study management practices needed for proper stewardship. Typically students will get to experience this in the region in which they live.

This year, one of our chapter’s members, Christian Goetsch, placed sixth in the district level contest, which was held in Pierce on October 6, out of 512 students from across North Eastern Nebraska. By receiving this placement Christian qualified himself to compete at the state level of land judging, in McCool Junction on Oct. 28, where he came home with a pink level ribbon. Additionally, Justin Haselhorst placed 37th receiving a blue ribbon. Congratulations gentleman!
