Osmond vocal, instrumental students excel at music contest
OSMOND — Osmond High School vocal and instrumental students attended the District Music Contest at Hartington on Friday, April 23.
Schools in attendance were Bloomfield, Creighton, Crofton, Elkhorn Valley, Hartington-Newcastle, Hartington Cedar Catholic, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, Niobrara, Osmond, Plainview, Randolph and Verdigre.
Osmond had 20 entries in the contest. Of those, nine received superior ratings (I), while 11 of them received a rating of excellent (II).

Special Awards Given
In addition to the superior and excellent ratings, one Osmond entry received a special award. Austin Vinson and Connor von Rentzell received an Outstanding Performance Honorable Mention Award for their vocal duet.
Osmond music director Christalin Ginn said, “The mixed chorus received three division I ratings, resulting in a plaque, which is the first plaque for chorus since I have been here, so in six years.”
