Osmond per-pupil costs are shared with residents

OSMOND — Following the recent community meeting of the Osmond Activity Center Committee, a request for Osmond’s per-pupil costs was made. Superintendent Dave Hamm provided the following information:

Osmond Community Schools provides all special services (speech, instructional support, Title I, etc.) to eligible St. Mary’s students, Hamm said; however, students at St. Mary’s are not included in per-pupil costs. If they were, Osmond would clearly have the lowest per-pupil costs of any school around, he added.

Osmond has the lowest per-pupil costs of like-sized schools in the state and is $2,783 below the average, Hamm reported. This amounts to $542,685 less per year in expenditures when compared to our peers, he said.

Osmond is $1,884 below the conference average when compared to other Class “D” schools, Hamm continued. This amounts to $367,380 less per year in expenditures when compared to our peers, he concluded.
