Oltjenbruns honored at fall vocal concert

OSMOND — Osmond Community School hosted a fall vocal concert on Tuesday, Nov. 10. The mass 7-12 mixed chorus started off the concert with “Sing!” The junior high mixed chorus then performed the songs “Brave,” “American Dream” and “Like The Beat Of A Drum,” the latter featuring percussionists Ava Reikofski and Cody Gansebom.

The senior high mixed chorus sang “Amani Utupe,” “And So It Goes,” featuring soloist Tazz Ferry, and “Side By Side.

The mass 7-12 mixed chorus ended the evening with “We Must Say Goodbye,” a tribute dedicated to Jeannie Oltjenbruns, who has retired as Osmond’s accompanist. She had been in that position on and off since 1988.

Before the final song, Osmond music director Christalin Ginn and several students presented Mrs. Oltjenbruns a framed copy of some of the lyrics to the final song which was dedicated to her.

Members of the junior high mixed chorus include Erin Aschoff, Jack Berg, Carson Bolz, Abigail Brown, Cassady Dominguez, Cody Gansebom, Sophia Gansebom, Keely Gubbels, Jade Halsey, Piper Hoffman, Megan Kelly, Brianna Kumm, Carianna Kumm, Kaydence Maertins, Kaleigh Miller, Landon Oltjenbruns, Ava Reikofski, Justin Rohloff, Ella von Rentzell, Erin Wagner and Meagan Wagner.

The senior high mixed chorus includes Allison Aschoff, Tazz Ferry, Aleynah Gray, Holly Jensen, Sarah Kelly, Kiera Moes, Austin Vinson, Connor von Rentzell and Riley Wagner.

The accompanist for the evening was Kerry Lea Wicker.

Conference Honor Choir

Several members of the senior high chorus were marked as members of the Conference Honor Choir. Those students are Allison Aschoff, Holly Jensen, Austin Vinson and Connor von Rentzell.

According to Mrs. Ginn, “These students auditioned to be a part of the 2020 virtual Conference Honor Choir and then submitted a video of them singing that will be put together in one video that will be sent out to the conference in honor of their achievements as singers this year.
