Jack Berg is newest Honor Reader

OSMOND — Osmond Community School (OCS) is proud to announce its newest AR Honor Reader. Jack Berg, son of Jason and Heather Berg, is a sixth grader. Jack is only the 17th student at OCS to achieve this high honor since it began in 2005.

Jack started his journey to Honor Reader on Jan. 6, 2020. He was well on his way to accomplishing his goal when school was closed because of the coronavirus. Jack did not let the school closure stop him from accomplishing his goal. He read many books and took AR tests during the learning-from-home period.

Angie Aschoff, Jack's teacher, stated, "I feel Jack was destined to be an Honor Reader. Jack has always enjoyed reading a variety of genres which is a requirement of Honor Readers."

Jack earned 81 points through fiction and 77.9 points through nonfiction literature. Jack's favorite book was the Jack London classic, "The Call of the Wild."

Jack was presented an Honor Reader certificate and medal by Osmond administrators Dave Hamm and Kurt Polt. Teachers Angie Aschoff and Denise Schmit, along with Jack's parents, were present for the honor.

When asked why he wanted to be an Honor Reader Jack replied "I wanted to accomplish something great." Congratulations to Jack for doing just that!
