OHS students earn honors at conference art show

WAYNE — The Conference Art Show was held Feb. 27 through March 3 at the Wayne State College Kanter Student Center.

Fourteen Osmond High School students grades nine through 12 and four eighth graders participated in the show, which featured work from 16 different Lewis & Clark Conference Schools.

Senior high students earning honors were Madeline Huwaldt, receiving first place on both her acrylic painting of a cat and her ink drawing of a lion.

Receiving second place were Alexis Solorzano on his colored pencil album cover entitled “How It Is;” Holly Jensen on her colored pencil drawing; Mary Kahny, on her pencil drawing called “Sketches,” and Madeline Huwaldt, for her marker drawing of a falcon.

Students who gained third place honors included Hannah Ferry for her ink drawing entitled “Memories” and her pencil drawing of baby Groot, Kennedy Johnson for her acrylic painting entitled “Childhood,” Madeline Huwaldt for her acrylic painting of “Church Windows” and for her watercolor painting of a cow and Macy Albrecht for her acrylic painting ,”Cat Woman.”

In the junior high division, Anna Kahny and Caleb Miller received second-place honors for their selfportraits, while Baylen Guenther and Hunter Buchanan received third-place honors.

Overall, the art show was a culmination of approximately 400 elementary, junior high and senior high school artworks in various media including charcoal, pencil, colored pencil, watercolor, acrylic paint, textiles and fibers, pen/ink/ marker, scratch art, chalk/pastels , clay and sculptural works.
