Local teacher receives technology grant
RANDOLPH — Randolph Public Schools teacher Mrs. Karen Boehmer received a technology grant AIR@NE from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and the Center for Science, Mathematics, and Computer Education.
The funded grant examines the adaptation and implementation of validated K-8 Computer Science curriculum in diverse school districts.
The primary goal is to study how districts facing different contextual challenges, including rural schools adapt curriculum to fit local needs and strength to broaden participation in computer science.
Mrs. Boehmer received funds for Randolph K8Technology, and attended graduated courses in Computer Science along with participating in technology conferences and weekend meetings. The program provides $1500.00 for technology. Mrs. Mary Miller, elementary principal, brought the grant to Mrs. Boehmer’s attention.
Mrs. Boehmer teaches K-6 music, K-12 Media Specialist, K-3 Technology and Junior High Humanities with the Randolph Public Schools.
