Local students will see a few new faces on the first day of school

Guenther brings varied experience to Randolph

RANDOLPH — Tiffany Guenther will begin teaching in fourth grade and seventh and eighth grade math at Randolph Public Schools.

“I am excited to go back to school,’’ she said. “I am a reading specialist so I am getting novels, learning centers and study groups ready. I am creative and like to have fun in class. I can be a little bit silly with students.’’

She said she feels it will help that she has already taught in a small school and especially in these same grade levels.

Guenther finished working for St. Mary’s Catholic School in Osmond on June 30. She was a teacher facilitator there. She worked there for 15 years. She helped with flag corps and the parish including fundraising.

“I am excited to work in town,’’ she said. “My children attend school in Randolph. I have already collaborated with many of the Randolph teachers.’’

One of my goals is to work with technology. Each student will have a computer in the fourth and fifth grade. She will also be working with students in the Cardinal Cranium group for high ability learners including various tiered levels of learning.

According to Guenther, it will be a challenge to get students back to normal school. That will be every teachers’ challenge this year after the Coronavirus precautions.

“I think we will just take it a day at a time and see what the guidelines will be. I will keep students involved with technology,’’ she said. “

She was born in Defiance, Iowa and graduated from Harlan, I o w a . Defiance is a town about the size of Belden.

She enjoys scrapbooking, crafting and repairing v i n t a g e furniture in her spare time.

She attended Northeast Community College and graduated from Wayne State College with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education science and a master’s degree in curriculum assessment with reading specialist.

Guenther and her husband, Tom, have four children including Justin, Jenna, Janelle and Jared. Tom Guenther works as a maintenance technician at Colonial Manor in Randolph.
