LCC teachers, staff pick up end of the year awards
LAUREL — LCC School administrators handed out several special staff and teacher awards at the close of this year’s school year.
Spanish teacher Marta Victor was recognized for her retirement after 35 years in Laurel.
This year’s Haskell Award Recipients were:
Elementary - Julie Hart, Kindergarten Teacher
Middle School - Kelli Soden, Special Education Teacher
High School - Tejlor Strope, Agriculture Education Teacher/ FFA Adviser
The Haskell Award is annually given to one LCC educator at each school building level who is highly regarded as an outstanding educator and exemplifies excellence in the profession.
Haskell Award nominees are remarkable in their dedication, passion and commitment to students, teaching and learning.
This year there were over 40 nominations, recognizing 23 different teachers, from senior students, faculty and staff members, as well as parents and community members. Nominations are forwarded to the Haskell Award Committee to the attention of longtime LCC School supporters, Dr. Dave Felber and Chuck Haskell, who review, consult and determine award recipients. Award winners receive a cash award from the Haskell Committee.
“We thank everyone for helping to recognize the outstanding educators who make a difference in the lives of LCC students,” Supt. Christiansen said.
Melissa Graf, Middle School Administrative Assistant was named as the Support Staff Member of the Year.
“Melissa Graf has been essential to our middle school principal transition this year,” Christiansen said. “She is always attentive to students’ needs. Melissa has been a critical person during inventory and requisition time, and we rely on her to ensure that curriculum and supplies are organized for the Middle School campus. Most importantly, Melissa builds amazing relationships with staff and students. She is dependable, hardworking, and always puts students and staff first. She is an important member of our LCC team.”
