High school blood drive is Tuesday

OSMOND — Osmond High School students will host their annual fall blood drive on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Coordinated by the American Red Cross, blood will be drawn in the OHS gym from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The goal for this visit is 38 units.

Donors will have their name put in for a drawing for an Amazon gift card. Also, all blood donors will receive a $10 gift card in the mail.

Masks must be worn, temperatures will be taken at the door, and social distancing protocol will be followed. Also, all blood donations will be screened for COVID antibodies. No walk-ins are welcome unless there is an open time slot.

For an appointment, prospective donors may call the school at (402) 748-3362 or visit www.redcrossblood.org. The online form is called Rapid Pass and will take care of answering questions so participants can get through their appointments faster, according to anatomy class instructor Kerri Conn. A photo ID or blood donor card is needed.

There is a shortage of blood, so the Red Cross is looking for people to give double red donations, Conn said. There will be two machines available for that process.

Anatomy students will get scholarship money based on the units of blood collected, according to Mrs. Conn. “The more units from all of our drives, the more scholarship money they are able to get,” she said.
