FBLA holds Dime Wars, raises funds for the March of Dimes

OSMOND – November is Prematurity Awareness Month. To raise awareness, the Osmond FBLA chapter held a class Dime War fundraiser during the week of Nov. 15-23. Students also wore purple on Nov. 17 to honor World prematurity Day. World Prematurity Day is observed each year to raise awareness of preterm birth and the concerns of preterm babies and their families worldwide. To raise money for the cause, FBLA members put jars in each homeroom class to see which class could earn the most points. Dollars were worth 100 points and dimes were worth -100. Other coins were worth face value. After several lead changes, the ninth grade class was the point winner. The winning class then participated in “Minute to Win It” competitions to see which student would be able to put a pie in the face of a teacher of their choice.

The two winning students from the Minute To Win It’s were Kelly Aschoff and Erin Wagner. They chose Blake Moen and Robin Wagner to “pie,” along with Dillon Wolfram.

The fundraiser was a huge success! The seventh through 12th grades raised $896.12. The FBLA members also wanted to say thank you to the Osmond Teachers Association for their generous donation of $650. The ending total that FBLA will donate to the March of Dimes Organization is $1,546.12. See more information and pictures about Dime Wars on Page 8 of this issue.
