End-of-the-year resignations approved by School Board

RANDOLPH — The Randolph School Board accepted three resignations and approved three probationary hires as replacements at its regular meeting last week.

Resignations were accepted from Latricia Olson, third-grade teacher, Karen Dominisse, Title I reading teacher, and Olivia Santiago, Kindergarten through sixth grade special education teacher. Board member approved the hiring on a probationary basis for Jen Crosley, Kelsey Gubbels and Paige Hegge.

School board members also heard about elementary field trips. Kindergarten, first and second graders visited Aschoff Dairy Farm and the Lucas Miller Farm last week. Third and fourth graders also visited the Aschoff Dairy Farm and Bloomfield’s “Life on the Farm” exhibit. Fifth and sixth-graders plan to visit Schmit Home Solutions and the Wayne State College planetarium at the end of the month.

In other school news, Superintendent Jeff Hoesing said estimates for the elementary boiler are underway. If the project comes in under $100,000, the school will not have to hire an engineer or an architect, he said.

At its regular meeting, the Randolph School Board also:

• Heard about a $1,500 grant awarded to Karen Boehmer for computer software, hardware, and computer science curriculum at the college level.

• Received a stipend from the streaming service which was placed back into the activities fund. Streaming service has been set up at the football field.

• Discussed ideas for recognizing the dance team win at state competition. Two ideas include Cardinal Creative designing a banner and a trophy case.

• Discussed the potential of using a card-key system for high school entry.

• Heard about wax being applied to gym floors.

• Discussed the addition of schoolbased businesses onto the school website. Cardinal Cam will have one student participating next year.

• Approved Algebra I to be available for eighth graders for high school credit.

• Discussed upcoming calendar dates of District Music contests on April 23 and FFA Awards on April 26.
