Celebrating National Fire Prevention Week

Thursday of last week was the day the third grade students in Osmond’s two grade schools looked forward to all week: the day of the fire truck ride. Members of the Osmond Volunteer Fire Department picked up students at Osmond Community School and gave them an exciting ride around town before dropping them off at the fire station and going to St. Mary’s Catholic School to pick up students there. While at the fire station, students learn about the different trucks that are used in fighting fires, as well as the ambulances that accompany the trucks, and get to try on the firemen’s equipment. In the top photo are all the students with Osmond firemen, back row, standing on truck: Ashlynn Riley (left), Alison Kruse, Kayleigh Bolz, Emmett Hoffman, Gage Krienert, Michael Vinson; middle row: firemen Caleb Eckstrom and Garret Kuhl, Allyson Dahlin, Kaylee Bahr, Alyvia Koehler, Alexa Olguin, Aubree Erickson, Sierra Koehler, Connor Melcher, Klaire Stech, firemen Rick Gardner and Tom Kruse; front row: firemen Dennis Kuhl and Calvin Gardner, Kendra Gardner. In bottom left photo are students from Osmond Public School as they try on the firemen’s equipment, while at left are the students from St. Mary’s. See Page 4 for the students’ comments about their fire truck ride.
