Bradley defeats Schutt in Randolph Mayoral race

HARTINGTON — Randolph voters opted for a new mayor Tuesday night.

Former school board member and retired businessman George Bradley defeated current Mayor Dwayne Schutt for a four-year term as Randolph’s chief executive. Bradley picked up 56 percent of the vote, outdistancing the incumbent 203-157.

In the race for the Randolph City Council, Tim Lemmons retains his seat by garnering the most votes. 

Lemmons received 258 votes to earn a four-year term on the Council. 

Brandon Backhaus defeated Josh Rayford, 209-174, to earn the second Council seat.

Four people were vying for three seats on the Belden Village Board. 

Janice Wobbenhorst was the top vote-getter with 47 votes. Robert Patefield came in second with 43 votes. 

A write-in candidate, Ralph Surber, Jr., had the third most votes, with 37 people choosing him for the post. The write-in outdistanced  Angie Ohlrich and Ron Stapelman for the seat. 

Cedar County Clerk Dave Dowling said all write-in votes for village boards are counted.

Dowling said it is now Surber’s decision as to  whether he will take the seat, or not.
