Schmit, Wather earn wins at Stanton

STANTON — The Randolph Cardinals’ wrestling team began the season in Stanton with a dual match Thursday.

There were double forfeits in five weight classes where neither team had a wrestler to compete. Those weight classes were 106, 113, 120, 126, and 285.

Stanton would win the match 39-12, in part, because the Mustangs have nine members while Randolph has three.

Of the three matches between Stanton and Randolph wrestlers, the Cardinals fared well.

Alex Schmit at 152 pounds pinned Tylor Klament to earn six points. Colby Wather at 170 pounds pinned Cade Geoger for another six points.

Brandon Bloomquist at 160 pounds fell to Moorghan Prusa of Stanton, losing in sudden victory 4-2.

Randolph was also supposed to compete on Saturday, but snow canceled the tournament.

This Saturday, the Cardinals are back in action for a tournament in West Point.
