RHS wreslters earn gold at Battle Creek meet

BATTLE CREEK - The Randolph wrestling team hit the road on Saturday for the Battle Creek Invite, earning an eighth place finish.

Randolph’s four wrestlers contributed a total of 68 points with two first place finishes, a third place finish and a 16th place finish.

Brandon Bloomquist and Noah Scott each earned first place in their respective weight classes, 152 and 170, and earned Randolph 26 points each on the day.

Bloomquist wrestled at 152 pounds, and won his first three matches by pinning his opponent to advance to the semifinals. Bloomquist pinned Jacob Hegemann of Howells-Dodge in the first round, Trey Sucha of Niobrara/Verdigre in the second round, and Moorghan Prusa of Stanton in the third round. The Randolph wrestler then handed Wakefield’s Isaac Verzani his first loss of the season with a 8-4 decision win. Bloomquist then pinned Battle Creek’s Ty Heimes to win the 152 weight class bracket and go 5-0 on the day. Bloomquist is now 24-4 on the season.
