Lady Cards fly past Osmond in season opener

OSMOND — The Lady Cardinals basketball team dominated in the season opener, defeating Osmond 50-24.

Randolph led all four quarters, and quickly grabbed a 15-5 lead by the end of the first quarter. That lead grew to 33-10 by halftime.

In the third quarter, both teams offenses slowed down, with just six total points being scored between both teams. Randolph scored four to Osmond’s two.

In the final quarter, Randolph again outscored the opponent, this time 13-12, to solidify the win.

Senior Carlie Nordhues led the team in scoring, but it was a host of seniors contributing on the night.

Nordhues is one of seven seniors on the team, and that class scored 46 of the team’s 50 points with the lone underclassman scorer being Jaiden Taylor with four points.

Senior Sophia Harder led the effort down in the paint with six rebounds and three blocks.

Taylor tied with Emma Bermel for the team lead in steals with four. The team had 16 steals on the night.

Randolph now prepares to host Ponca on Thursday evening before traveling to Laurel to face LCC on Saturday. The team also travels to Wakefield to face Wakefield-Allen on Tuesday.
