Homer defense shuts down RHS girls

RANDOLPH — The Lady Cardinal offense wasn’t firing on all cylinders Thursday night, as Randolph dropped a 48-28 decision to Homer here.

The Lady Knights raced out of the gate, building a 16-11 first-quarter lead. The teams were basically even in the second quarter as the defenses took over and Homer ended the frame with a 24-17 halftime advantage.

Homer came out of the locker room after the break with a determined defense, as they held the Lady Cards to just 11 second-half points, while putting up 24 of their own to earn the big win.

The Lady Cards were led on the night by Cindy Haselhorst, who connected on 4-9 from the field and 2-2 from the charity stripe for a team-high 10 points. As a team, the Lady Cards were just 11-46 from the field and 4-9 from the freethrow line. Haselhorst also led the team on the boards, cleaning the glass for five rebounds.
