Cards use strong fourth quarter to fly past Plainview

RANDOLPH — The Cardinals got back in the win column on Thursday night with a 41-32 win over Plainview.

Randolph was led by Carter Schnoor dropping 22 points on the night. He made two three-points, went 7-16 from the floor and an additional 6-8 from the free throw line.

Schnoor also led his team with three steals.

The Randolph defense made it a tough night for Plainview, with the visiting Pirates shooting just 11-38 on the night, or 28%. Meanwhile, Randolph went 14-35, or 40%.

Keaton Backhaus followed Schnoor with 11 points, and he led the team in rebounds, assists, and blocks, with seven, three, and five respectively.

The Cardinals win improved the team’s record to 6-9 as the boys next looked ahead to the Lewis & Clark Conference Tournament.

Randolph started the first round on Monday in Laurel against Wynot. The Cardinals are the seven seed, while the Blue Devils are the 10 seed. Winner of that game faced the winner of 2 seed LCC and 15 seed Creighton on Thursday in Ponca.
