Cards claim their first win at Pender

PENDER — The Randolph Cardinals picked up their first win of the season Friday, but it didn’t come easily.

The Cardinals showed right from the start they were ready to play, as Carter Schnoor bolted for a 50-yard TD run early in the first quarter. He then hit Keaton Backhaus in the endzone for the 2-point conversion and a quick 8-0 lead.

Pender responded with a solid drive and a 1-yard Dylan Vogt TD plunge. The extra point kick missed its mark, though, and the Pendragons trailed 8-6.

Randolph found paydirt again early in the second quarter as Schnoor crossed the goal line again, this time from short distance. He connected with Haselhorst on the conversion play to give the Cards a 16-6 lead.
