Open House is planned for revamped Randolph City Auditorium

RANDOLPH — Some major upgrades are now complete at the Randolph City Auditorium and area residents are ready to celebrate with an Open House.

The Open House is slated for this Friday, beginning with a meal at 6 p.m. The Outback Band will perform after that.

The two-year, $208,000 project included construction of new, expanded restrooms, with new insulation and new drywall.

New drywall and trim, as well as insulation were also installed in the lobby area. This area also received a new ceiling, new light fixtures, new carpet, and coat racks.

Insulation was also put into the hall itself, as well as new drywall and trim, along with sound-proofing panels and new wall sconces. The ceiling was also painted and new light fixtures and ceiling fans were installed. A new exhaust system and a new sound system were also installed.

The stage also got an upgrade as new drywall was also installed there and sound-proofing panels were added. The stage also got new curtains.

The kitchen received a muchneeded makeover, as it received new counter tops, new cabinets, and new sinks and faucets. New shelving was also installed and the floor was refinished. A new ice-maker was also purchased for the kitchen.

Improvements also included an addition to the back of the facility to better store chairs and tables.

New exterior lights were installed, as well as a new awning on the front of building, which greatly enhances the auditorium’s curb appeal.

The final piece to the project was completed earlier this fall when the front awning was installed.

The project was undertaken mostly with donated funds, as $158,000 was raised through fundraising. The city of Randolph also contributed $50,000 toward the updates.

The first fundraiser for the project was held in September 2017, when about 300 area residents came out for a Dueling Pianos concert and an auction.

Additional donations received at the Nov. 15 event will help pay to paint the kitchen, and for the purchase of kitchen accessories, and round tables for the hall.
